I can't finish Waif's Lament right now. I'm incredibly ashamed that such a short story is taking me so long, and I'd love very much to have it done. But the only times I feel compelled to work on it are the times that I can't. Right before work, and really late at night. If I had a whole week off, where I didn't have concerns about work lingering in the back of my mind, I could take it out no problem.

That brings me to my other concern. I've gotta spend more time looking for a new job. The one I'm in now was always supposed to be temporary. It's been nine months. Nine months in a job that has nothing to do with my degree, where everything I do results in me catching crap from my boss or from our patients, with nothing to gain from it except a paycheck. I no longer care about it at all. When a patient on the phone goes into their life story about why they need dentures, I just want to tell them to shut up and tell me what appointment time they want, so we can both be done with it. I've given up on trying to please my boss as well. If her last two secretaries and lab tech couldn't, chances are pretty slim that I can. It's time for me to find something else.

If anyone was hanging on the edge of their seat for Waif's Lament, I'm so sorry. I haven't abandoned it, I'm just moving it to the back burner for now. I'm going to be working on my contest entry over Thanksgiving, though. So, it'll probably be around Christmas when I finally knock that fanfic out. At that time I will post the third and final chapter, and I'll post revisions to the first two as well.
